Caryn is finishing her M.S. Narrative Medicine degree at Columbia University in the City of New York. She graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 2013 with an A.B. in Anthropology and a minor in Russian Language and Literature. While premed at Washington University, Caryn had the privilege of participating in various medical and research settings, all of which have helped inform her writing and thinking today. In the future, Caryn will pursue further graduate work in Clinical Psychology where she can combine a myriad of experiences with her listening skills and passion for social justice and activism. She loves thinking about thinking, and challenging commonly held assumptions of the Western world. Since Caryn can remember, she has always been drawn to participate in the arts, science and medicine, and she explores the ways they inform one another. Now, she actively works to combine them—whether it is speaking about how to better premedical education, researching mortality narratives for a documentary film, or freelance writing for a healthcare startup.
