Matt is the Editor-in-Chief Emeritus of Voices in Bioethics. He holds an editing certificate and a Bachelor of Arts in Law, Letters, and Society from the University of Chicago. Various academic pursuits and professional experiences have advanced Matt’s commitment to bioethical inquiry—including his work as a medical researcher at the University of Chicago, where he coordinated an ethics working group for a landmark urban health study, and at the California Department of Public Health, for which he authored a policy report that examined laws and regulations related to human embryonic stem cell research. As a graduate student in Columbia’s Master of Science in Bioethics program, Matt is contributing to several research projects at the New York State Psychiatric Institute in Manhattan. His research interests span a wide range of bioethical issues, including clinical research ethics, the moral and ethical implications of death and dying, and advances in medicine that intersect law and public policy.
