We are delighted to welcome you to the first issue of Voices in Bioethics: An Online Journal in affiliation with Columbia University. Our mission is to provide an online forum for constructive, thought-provoking, and respectful commentary on domestic and international issues in bioethics.
Here in our first issue, we have a wonderfully diverse selection of content. The Op-Ed section covers topics ranging from therapeutic misconception in clinical trials, to public health paternalism and the New York mayoral race. Careers in Bioethics, a series of discussions with prominent bioethicists, presents Oliver Sacks, Robert Jay Lifton, and Thomas Murray. The Features section offers discussions in topics from animal research to genomics. Our Media Reviews offer reviews of recent fiction and non-fiction books, films, and television that pose bioethical issues. Art and Bioethics provides unique explorations at the intersections between artistic expression and bioethics.
We also invite you to participate in the dialogue -either by posting comments, or by contributing articles, reviews and art in any of the above broad categories for our future issues. We see this new journal as adding rich important niches to contemporary bioethics publications.
We welcome your feedback and suggestions, and hope you’ll come back frequently as we add new material, and join us in these important conversations.
We look forward to expanding the conversation with you.
